I don't understand how anyone can really give lower than 4 or 5* for clubs and societies, their is something for everyone and they are organised and manged very well. Fabulous university, couldn't get a better experience anywhere else. I am amazed at how organised the university is and how well it is planned out especially university park and jubilee. I made friends for life and my experience prepared me for a great career. Loved it so much I came back for more. University of Nottingham. Campus is nice lots of green space, teaching is varied and support is poor, especially for people with learning difficulties and when wanting help with careers or life after uni. The uni is very pretty and the campus has a lot of great facilities and is close to town. Hopper buses help, but the campus is still a good 30 minutes walk from one end to the other. University Park is full of green spaces, trees and even a lake- its stunning all year round. Very good University, never had any problems. Nice uni in general except for the horrendous catered halls. The campus is in the middle of nowhere and it feels like an overrrated park. Weird Wifi though; won't allow certain programs to connect (e.g. I am a first year Nutrition and Dietetics student here at the University of Nottingham and so far I have absolutely loved being here! The student union is a bit underwhelming and I’m not entirely sure what they’ve done! It’s okay , I’m enjoying myself it’s the accommodation staff I’m having trouble with. Ahhh! The campus facilities are pretty dated and there aren't many resources to go around. It's only a short tram/bus ride from the city so it's easy just to pop in for a few bits, but far enough away so it doesn't seem too overwhelming. All my friends have gone on to have interesting jobs from media to university management. Really enjoyed my time here at the University of Nottingham. University of Nottingham; Nottingham Trent University If your course is on sutton bonnington campus or Derby campus- you will be isolated or have to get up early to commute so i dont recomend that! If you are from a big city and enjoy city life, don’t come to Nottingham. The jubilee campus is modern and smaller so is more communal.There's a variety of clubs, but they can be expensive. Staff are great teaching is superb cant really complain about the university. But this campus definitely deserves one star for everything here. However the food in the canteen in jubilee is a bit lacking and the canteen in university park is not very student price friendly. Clubs and societies are excellent, perfect way to socialise and make friends and make the most out of the uni experience. This review is solely based on the Sutton Bonington campus. Furthermore, the IT set up in terms of the online portal 'Moodle' is slow and cumbersome compared to Trent's 'NOW'. To top it off you'll be getting an education from one of the best uni's in the world at a absolutely beautiful campus. Many of my friends I met through the massive selection of societies. UoN takes 300+ students (mostly mediocre) for the courses I mentioned above - how is UoN even comparable to the elite RGs? Food here is great; such a range. I can not express to you how poor the organisational skills at UoN is, considering it is supposed to be in the top 100 globally. The campus is so beautiful, very green, which is important to me and has Wallaton Deer Hall next door which is very grand and pretty! The campus is too large and inefficient, but the facilities and services provided are plentiful, and it's a nice place to be. The nightlife is unrivalled, with student nights every night of the week. Have really enjoyed first year, my accommodation is great but the food could be better. It is okay, but not as great as I expected. It's an amazing uni, no regrets whatsoever. Nottingham’s first civic college was opened in 1881. Brand new sports facilities are also amazing. They always ask you to send them emails but never really help resolve the issues. Lovely campus but bad course (film and television), Have loved my experience at uni, it has the perks of a beautiful large campus but everything is close enough together, and loads of stuff to do in the city. Eduroam is terrible, couldn't connect for weeks then suddenly worked again. The main university campus is gorgeous and open and green, with all the main facilities and buildings within walking distance of each other. It is a fantastic uni and I'm so glad I'm here. I would definitely recommend visiting the University of Nottingham, because once you see and feel it for yourself, you cannot forget such an amazing experience! I have loved every minute at this university. Such a great University! Biology course covers diverse range of subject matter, allowing students to experience the full range of what biology has to offer & can choose to focus on whatever they choose. Very inclusive and diverse community. But the majority of the lecturers are unhelpful, taking ages to reply to emails or to simply not reply at all! Fab uni, brilliant sports (rowing) and incredible department (chemistry). The facilities are amazing, 8 libraries is so useful to me because it keeps my studies fresh being in different learning environments from day to day. Perhaps having a small shortage of rooms and lecture halls, but all in all, quite idillic, and yet very active, with innumerable sports clubs and societies for all tastes. Teachers are amazing and always willing to help even though they are busy. The student union is rubbish, very small and hosts hardly anything, its essentially a small bar that serves food with a little outdoor bit and a snooker table. I currently study architecture and though it is a very demanding course it is good at the teaching materials,especially studio. Have yet to need to use the careers service but from what I hear it's good. WiFi is problematically low range and difficult to sign in to. Even within each school/ department, everyone is very involved and helpful. Welfare and feeling like part of a community is very good. I am so grateful and couldn't have asked for more from my university experience! In nearly every department Trent trumped Uni of except perhaps facilities which is exceptional at Uni of due to the sheer amount of space the campus holds. Prices for food within the university are expensive however this shouldn't put you off trying a Chinese at the top of the Portland building every once In a while, Instead of different campuses one would be better. It has good facilities and there are a lot of supportive facilities when you need help with certain things, however the adequacy of the actual service I would say are mediocre as university students don’t really receive the definitive results they require. Lovely campus however, my halls for first year insisted on charging rent during COVID-19, and the Students Union and University did nothing to help us despite the fact that it was them who placed us in the accommodation. Whilst staying on the campus in my first year (Lincoln Hall), I found the halls to be very close to the Students Union, Hallward library and David Ross Sports Village all of which are great facilities. A huge range of societies and everyone is very friendly. The night life at uni of is S***. There are lights everywhere and it is the kind of place where you don't feel uneasy about walking to the campus shop in the dark on your own. Staff are really supportive in every area. There is support from the lecturers and welfare people. And my course is also well set out. Resources seem to be abundant, but there is a lack of communication between professors and the student services, possibly because of their switching to a new data system. The University of Nottingham do not do Ocean, like Trent do. Clubs and societies could do more to engage students, but they are all incredibly welcoming - same could be said for the students union.
